BIOETHANOL
Bioethanol is an alcohol obtained by fermentation process of agricultural products rich in sugars and carbohydrates such as cereals (maize, sorghum, wheat, barley), sugar crops (sugar cane, beet), fruit, grapes and potatoes. It can be used as biofuel instead of gasoline. By 30% bioethanol is blended with conventional petrol engine with no special technical. Not the case in Brazil ethanol is used in pure form at 100% as a substitute for gasoline.
Bioethanol can also be extracted from cellulosic biomass and by-products of crops but the price of a higher production cost. The main raw materials used so far for its production are, therefore, cereals, sugar cane and beets. Every 100 kg of fermented grains produces about 30 kg of ethanol.
Like all bioethanol biofuels also allows replacement of traditional fuels (petrol) giving the country more independent of foreign oil. In any case there are only positive aspects. For a mass development of biofuels such as ethanol would require tax to be competitive with gasoline. A widespread use of ethanol as fuel therefore involves the reduction of tax revenues from excise taxes on conventional fuels. Which many governments rely on to cover public expenditure of all kinds. Other effects to be taken into account concerning the impact national agriculture. As we all know every country has an agricultural system peculiar and different from others.
